According to the Public Relations Department of Hegta Holding, Alireza Tabesh, CEO of Hegta Holding, said at the signing ceremony of a joint memorandum of understanding with the Arvand Free Zone Organization, emphasizing the tourism and investment capacities in Khorramshahr and Abadan: “During the previous trip and the conference on February 13 in Tehran, we witnessed special attention from the media and economic, medical, and tourism activists to investment opportunities in the Arvand Free Zone. The Seventh Development Plan has also set serious tasks in the field of tourism, especially medical tourism, and we should all seek to benefit from these capacities.” <\/p>\n
Referring to the important axes of the cooperation memorandum between Hegta and the Arvand Free Zone, he added: This memorandum includes supporting the holding of the main conference in Ordibehesht 1404, developing joint cooperation in the fields of tourism, rail and air transportation, and strengthening the sea-based economy. One of the most important rail transportation projects that is also emphasized by the President is the Shalamcheh-Basra railway line. We hope that this strategic project, after its completion, will provide locomotives in cooperation with the Arvand Free Zone and investors during the exploitation phase, and that Raja Rail Transportation Company will be able to make an important contribution to the exchange of passengers and pilgrims between the two countries by launching pilgrimage and tourism trains. <\/p>\n
Tabesh continued by emphasizing the role of the private sector in economic prosperity and said: According to the Supreme Leader’s emphasis, the country needs the active participation of the private sector in the economy. This memorandum can provide the necessary capacities to facilitate the private sector’s entry into the field of investment in the Arvand Free Zone. Also, considering the medical capacities of Khorramshahr and Abadan, medical tourism will also be a priority of this cooperation. <\/p>\n
Appreciating the sacrifices of the people of Khorramshahr and Abadan during the Holy Defense, the CEO of Hegta considered the role of these two cities in national development to be outstanding and noted: The dear people of Khuzestan have a great right on the shoulders of the Iranian nation and we have a duty to take serious steps towards the economic prosperity of the region. Developing health tourism in the Arvand Free Zone by utilizing existing capacities<\/p>\n
Following this meeting, Ali Zarei, CEO of Arvand Free Zone, while noting that the CEO of Hegta Holding and the accompanying delegation are present in the region today at the invitation of the Arvand Free Zone Organization after the preliminary meeting to review the conference on investment opportunities in health tourism that was held in Tehran, noted: With the plans made and in line with the development of tourism activities; it has been decided that Arvand will host officials, experts and investors in the field of health tourism in Ordibehesht 1404. <\/p>\n
He considered one of the important issues of the current management period of the Arvand Free Zone Organization, in which many efforts have been made in this area, to be addressing tourism as a currency-generating and economic industry, and added: One of the most important capacities of the tourism sector in Arvand, given its proximity to Iraq, is the issue of health tourism. <\/p>\n
Zarei acknowledged: Given the neighborhood with the populous province of Basra, as a wealthy province in Iraq, we record an average of at least 3 to 4 thousand people traveling from the Shalamcheh border to the country’s territory every day, and these citizens travel to Iran for health tourism purposes. <\/p>\n
The CEO of the Arvand Free Zone stated: Unfortunately, in previous years, this important capacity was not given much attention and health tourism was neglected; but currently, good efforts have been made in this regard and we have had several private sector investments in the field of health medicine; although I must emphasize that we have not yet made a detailed plan to attract health tourists as it should be. <\/p>\n
Stating that the tourism industry in the world today is a revenue-generating industry and that the surrounding countries earn a large part of their income from tourism, he said: It is necessary to seriously address the issue of tourism and the many capacities we have in this field. One of the aforementioned areas, considering the excellent medical centers and skilled specialist and sub-specialist doctors in the region, can be health tourism. <\/p>\n
Zarei stated: More than 350 specialist and sub-specialist doctors are present in the Arvand Free Zone, well-equipped hospitals, advanced surgical centers such as Fakhr al-Nisa in Khorramshahr and Madar Clinic in Abadan can all be a good health tourism destination, first for compatriots and then internationally, especially Iraq. <\/p>\n
The CEO of the Arvand Free Zone Organization called the International Health Tourism Conference with the aim of introducing health tourism activists and the capacities of the region, and said: We hope that through synergy and joint efforts, we will take a good step towards introducing the region and take a positive step in attracting financial resources and health tourists. <\/p>\n
Following this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Social Security Tourism Company (HSTC) and the Arvand Free Zone Organization, with the aim of developing joint cooperation in holding an international conference on investment opportunities in medical tourism in Khorramshahr and Abadan in Ordibehesht 1404 (May 22, 2021) in order to strengthen medical and tourism infrastructure and promote the position of this region as one of the medical tourism hubs in Iran and the region.<\/p>\n
According to this report, holding an international conference on investment opportunities in medical tourism – Khorramshahr and Abadan with the presence of relevant domestic and foreign experts, institutions and organizations, developing the necessary infrastructure to attract investment in the field of medical tourism, introducing medical capacities, hospitals, clinics and specialized centers in the cities of Khorramshahr, Abadan, the Arvand Free Zone, and the cities of Khorramshahr and Abadan are among the most important topics of this memorandum.<\/p>\n
Also, developing specialized cooperation in the field of medical tourism, creating executive mechanisms to attract foreign patients, especially from neighboring countries, and implementing international advertising and marketing programs to introduce Arvand as the hub of Iranian medical tourism were other issues raised in this agreement, which was signed by both parties during a ceremony.<\/p>\n
